Idea and Inspiration
My inspiration for this project came from the passion that I have towards soccer. In high school, my older sister and I had the privilege to play together in a team which is one of the reasons why I decided to interview her for her to share her experience of what it was like playing soccer. I got this idea of interviewing her from “A Day In The Life of ATC” audio clip that we had as a reading. It gave me the idea of using a soft sound (birds singing) as an introduction to the video clip. It fits well with my course topic because it is relatable to some of the lessons I learned while playing with a team, something that any athlete can relate to.
Design Process/ Technical Detail
For starters I decided to mess around with the image I used as an intro, which was using a picture of myself and my teammate when we used to play together. At first, I thought about leaving the picture parallel, but it did not grab much attention, that is why I decided to position the image in a different way and use the rotation tool and the scale tool in a way that it would capture the audience attention. After placing the interview clip, I went through it a couple times to take a few “ums” out with the razor tool. When I finished using the razor tool and clipping out a few words I decided to use the scale tool at second 19 to zoom into the person who was being interviewed for the audience to receive a better view. I used several transitions in between the questions to indicate that the person being interviewed was changing her message I started using different video transitions to see which transition would fit best, but I enjoyed best the cross dissolve because it flows smoothly into the interview. Another transition I decided to use was the film dissolve and set the saturation at -75 to indicate a new question. Lastly, for my video clip I added the same soft sound of birds signing that I used for my intro as my outro to set a smooth ending. I decided to put this audio at the end again so the crediting page at the end would not be awkwardly there. I decided to add a smooth transition of Dip to Black for 2 seconds so it can flow slow to my crediting page. For the text I decided to add some color and use linear Gradient as a fill type for the credit page to grab the audience attention instead of skipping the crediting page.
Changes for Final Video/Feedback
The feedback I received from my classmates was great. I enjoyed knowing they loved the work I did and took in consideration some suggestions they thought would better my final video. Although, I decided to not change anything for my final video creation just for the fact that I was very satisfied with my draft, which I had taken it in serious matters as a final and out a lot of time creating it. Another reason why I decided not to change it was because of time, I was very close reaching the 2 minutes and by adding another intro would add more seconds to it. Also, I did not want to be talking the whole 2 minutes which I thought leaving the bird sounds would make it more interesting instead of me talking full time.
