Idea
For this project I decided to create a recording as a form of an interview for the reason that I wanted to hear from other young teenagers who share a similar story to mine. Also, I decided to interview Ricky, (with his permission) for the reason that he has played soccer for several years and would have experience on lessons he has learned from the sport. My idea is related to my topic because it is relatable to soccer and also ties in with the organization idea, I had for those who face conflicts while playing the sport.
Inspiration
After listening to NPR and Northwest Public Radio I knew that I wanted to do an interview for this project. The reason why they inspired me to do so was because it sounds more interesting when others are speaking rather than being one voice for the whole time. Also, I really enjoyed how they used other audio sounds to transition to another person. I got inspired to use a dramatic sound at the start of the recording and then transition to the interview recording. I believe the idea of having an interview for this project fits well with my topic because it gives me an opportunity to listen to their situation and see how I can help them out.
Technical Detail
For my audio recording I thought about doing an interview by asking questions to a soccer player. I recorded the interview on my phone and transported it into my laptop for me to be able to edit on Audition CC. I noticed there was a few “uhmms” throughout the interview recording and used the Razor selected clip tool in order to remove those clips from the track. I reviewed the new recording a few times and decided to lower the volume for his voice to be at the same tone as mine. After I was satisfied with the track, I added a sound bite that I had recorded for it to be the start of the whole recording track. I had a few troubles with it because at times it was too loud or too soft that I had to fade in the panel in order for it to flow into the interview. My recommendation would be to pay close attention to the panel because it can be difficult when figuring out what kind of fade you would want into your recording.

Hi Brenda, overall, I think you did a really good job so far. The quality of your voice recording was clear, and obviously one was an over the phone recording, so you can’t really alter that all too much but. The subject was interesting and related to your subject well. I thought it was a really good idea that you added an “intro” but found it a little distracting. Maybe consider using something a little different. Also, this maybe cut out parts where you said, “I guess” or when he said “damn”. However, this is not necessary, and I think it sounds fine with it, it might help clean up your audio track a little. I would also add an outro sound or a couple seconds of silence at the end of your track to make the ending seem less abrupt. Keep up the good work and your final product will be great.

Hello Brenda,
I really enjoyed listening to your blog post because I really like the topic and theme you chose. I played soccer too, so I am sure other soccer players and fans would enjoy listening as well. I think you did a great job of asking questions and getting clear answers as responses. However, I do think maybe having the interview answers recorded separately would sound a bit clearer than just communicating over the phone. This is only because when you are talking to him over the phone it sounds muffled and can be hard to hear at times. I also would recommend possibly setting the volume of the phone call (if you plan to keep it in that way) a little quieter than your original voice that is speaking so it doesn’t sound super loud when he first starts to speak. Every word that you said was easy to differentiate and was well done. Great job and thank you for sharing!

Hey Brenda,
I like your project a lot because I am a soccer player as well! One thing that I would do is try and get more people to gain perspective on your topic. Maybe try and select a few of the best question to your liking and ask those to several people. That would have to be cut down to make time commitment, but I think you could do it! Lastly there were points where I found myself turning volume up and then turning down. Maybe try and keep the noise level to the same level so it sounds clean!

I believe making a few edits for my final will turn out to be great. I really appreciated the feedback I received from my peers as to I will include some of their suggestions into my final recording. Most of the feedback I received was about the phone recording I had with the person I interview. I was thinking about creating a new recording but, unfortunately this person is from back home and only have contact through phone calls. What I do plan on doing is lowering down the volume of his voice and editing some clips for it to sounds smooth and clear. Also, I plan on adding an outro for my audience to know that the interview has ended and has a transition into the finish line. Lastly, I would be using the pan tool for the outro and making the tone of the interviewer the same as my questionnaire.
