For my Draft Logo Project I decided to create a logo that illustrates an organization. My idea was to relate it to my topic of soccer and put in a title that demonstrates motivation. The reason why I decided to put the title of “Dream High” is because this organization will help individuals reach their goals or similar goals regardless of their conditions. I also decided to use the shape of a soccer ball to illustrate the organization being dedicated to the sport of soccer. I got inspired to use this type of design by the Tracing Logo Tutorial video. When I was working on the tutorial, adding circles to the design is when my inspiration came to create a soccer ball by using the Ellipse Tool and the Polygon Tool. Also, after reading the Balance, Figure and Ground assigned reading I knew I had to balance out the soccer ball shape with the wording of the title, I am not fully satisfied with balance of the title and the ball and will work on that for the final logo after receiving some feedback.
I started creating my Draft Logo by adding a circle to one of my layers with the Ellipse Tool, I did receive different sizes for the fact that I was not pressing the key “Shift” when creating the soccer ball. Also, I tried adding another layer of circle to the original circle and see if it would create a thick layer for it to look like an original ball. I did not like the result which is why I started adding weight to the stroke and using the dashed line tool to add design to the soccer ball. After adding the dashed lines, I created another layer to start using the Polygon tool. I struggled quite a bit adding Polygons to the circle because I had arrange each polygon and send it back of the circle in order for me to use the Shape Builder Tool. It did take me quite a bit to arrange it and get the results I wanted. After, I created another layer to add the Text and start using different fonts and style options, after selecting a few I enjoyed more how the rise style looked and lowered down the curve. At this point, I knew I needed to add some color because it was black and white, so I went back to the Tracing Logo tutorial to add color by using the gradient tool. Finally, I finished off by expanding the image so when I made the logo smaller, the dashed lines would keep the same size and shape.
I had a lot of fun creating the Draft Logo. I did face some struggles but solved them by going back to the tutorials and fix the problem. Some of the struggles I faced was having to undo the expand for me to be able to change the font or the size. Also, another struggle I had was having to shape the polygons on the right size inside the circle in order for it to look the same shape. I did copy and paste but I had to use the Shape Builder Tool in order to get the results I wanted. Overall, I had a great time designing the Draft Logo.

I really enjoyed the logo as it really depicts your topic of helping others reach their goals especially with the soccer background which I thought was really creative. Its simplicity and its design really caught my eye because the hexagon shapes and the ball itself really resembles a soccer ball, so I was able to relate it to your topic well. There are only two things that I would maybe suggest. One of them being the font color of the words to maybe choose a different color or add an effect to it to make it pop out more and the other suggestion would be the hexagon shape near the bottom right and top right can just be adjusted a tiny bit. Other than that, I feel like your already way ahead in the right direction and keep up the good work. Overall, I thought the idea was really cool and creative from the start.

Hi Brenda!
I really love how your passion for soccer shows in this logo design. I also love the idea behind the whole organization and how selfless the idea is. I really enjoy how unique the soccer ball looks, especially with using the lines from one of last week’s tutorials to make it pop. I also love the shapes you used on the inside to imitate a real soccer ball, it adds texture to the design itself rather than it just being flat. There are a few suggestions I think I can make that could make the logo pop even more. First, I love the font of the text, but if you make it bolder/thicker it could pop that much more. Secondly, I think if you fade only some of the shapes used for the inside of the ball it could add a 3D like effect. I love the idea behind this project, and can’t wait to see more work from you!

For starters, thank you all for the feedback I received, I take these comments in serious manners for me to be able to reflect back on my design and be satisfied with my work. For my draft design I did want to make some changes to the text because I did not like how the title seemed quite smaller or did not have a balance with the soccer ball. I believe for my final draft I won’t need to make major changes because I focused on designing the logo as if it was my final design and receive feedback on how I can make it better. Through the comments I received, I plan on changing the font on my title and maybe adding a different color or make it bolder for my title to grab the audience’s attention. Also, another change that I am thinking of doing is changing or fading some of the polygons inside the soccer ball for it to have a reflection and make it look like an actual ball. Overall, I appreciate my classmates comments.

I like how this design is all about soccer and its straight to the point that way. I really enjoy how all the designs of diamonds are on different levels and i can tell that that was your goal, a suggestion for this is i personally would try to make the lines thicker. I like the color blend as well its interesting and a lot more vibrant than doing a standard average black and white soccer ball. If it was my design i might try to take the words and put them on the soccer diamonds themselves but i love this design and want to see more.
