About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Brenda Yepez and I am a Junior at Washington State University, changing campuses from WSU Tri-cities. I have a passion towards sports, music, friendships, and involvement. My life started when I moved to the United States at the age of eight along with my three siblings and my parents. I was very excited because I was going to be able to attend school and join sports. The experienced continued when I engaged myself in soccer and my community by volunteering my time helping in summer camp events. I remember seeing so many kids who looked up to the volunteer members and calling us “teachers.” It gave me so much motivation and hope that I knew I wanted to attend college. Although I knew I wasn’t going to be able to receive much Financial Aid and needed to apply for scholarships, I knew that being involved would help me communicate with others and create connections. For the past four years I have been very involved with my community that lead me to great opportunities such as traveling for conferences, making new connections, and finding resources for my education. All these experiences made me realize that I wanted to attend WSU to receive my Bachelor’s degree in Communication in Society specialized in Risk and Crisis Communication.
